Kingdom Hearts Game Ranking

KH1 HD -

Yeah, this one might just be pure nostalgia. I love this one. Wonderland is in this one, and Halloween Town is in this one. What more do you want? All of the worlds hit in this game in their own way. The Neverland Clock Tower??? Didn’t even need to be in the game, but it is one of the best parts. It even has the best cover art in the series by far????? Heavy hitter right out of the gate. Classic. Classic.

All of the gameplay feels weighty in a good way. There is so much impact in each hit, which is really lost in the later games, and proud mode mixes with the broken MP system to make it almost actually fair, unlike KH2 where you will be running around the area waiting for MP recharge. All I can say is classic.

KH3 + ReMind -

This was good even without the ReMind DLC, and even that was mostly nothing besides playable Scala and Kairi. The fights are good, but $30???

Anyway, all the Disney Worlds are given so much more life than any other game in the series. Just due to the hardware power. It’s so fun that the series got to have level design again in some beautiful environments. The hidden mickeys are the best new part in the game. I loved that feature the absolute most of anything in the game. Nobody talks about them enough, but they are so fun to find (which might just be The Witness fan in me.) And the combat is fun with good payoffs, what more is there.

##Kh2 HD - I did actually play on Critical Mode, so I guess that makes my playthrough more valid. I don’t know how I feel about it anymore though. Roxas is a tough fight, they weren’t kidding. I wish the worlds weren’t so straight forward. Kinda kills some of the mystique of the worlds when they are straight lines…. Rough. Roxas is a good character, and the beginning prologue is the best part of the game. Twilight Town #1

0.2 -

I just think it’s neat. Has the KH3 graphical and combat fluidity that I crave with actually interesting world design with being in the realm of darkness. Very fun to just play through in one sitting. I think Aqua is a good character. Good not really a game.

BBS HD -

I think Enchanted Dominion is good. The 3 character stories is a really cool concept that I appreciate the game for going for. The fact that the bosses can all be basically Surge/Dodgeroll spammed kinda makes each fight less involving, and Aqua basically does no damage from her hits in the mid-late game, which is not very fun and had me running past all the enemies because it took five minutes for one guy which sucked. But I do think this game has a very fun selection of worlds. It really expanded the scope of what Kingdom Hearts could be and I appreciated that.

Days -

This game feels probably the most similar to KH1, vibes wise. It is so contained to Roxas’s life within the Organization that the Grey Room really does feel like a home, and Roxas has no idea what is going on. He is just going on those missions for that nice ice cream. The red color for the game also helps my opinion of it for some reason. I don;t know why, but that red heart in the logo really helps me. Also important that I want to live in Twilight Town and eat sea salt ice cream every day which makes me like the game so much more. The mission structure honestly made me want to always go for one more mission, and using just fire for the entire game was actually pretty fun. It does suck that long combo keyblades are basically not viable because only the finisher does decent damage, and you are always not getting to it if you have a 6 hit combo.

Chi Saga -

Nostalgia game absolutely. Barely played it, but watched so many videos during it. I loved the pull videos. Really love the art style, and I remember playing the Japan only browser version and not knowing what any of the buttons meant. Fantastic game. I love it. They really need to remake it though.

DDD HD -

I really think that the drop system is underbaked, but it does have some really good worlds, so it comes out as a wash. I liked that they brought back the Sora/Riku dual protagonists. I wonder if the sleeping worlds will ever actually return. The Grid is not very fun, but the Musketeers world actually has some good music, so its good.

ReCoM HD -

This is again the nostalgia pick. I do love Chain of Memories with all its flaws. Really just love the actual Castle. It has such an enclosed vibe that makes it great. I remember apple juice.

CoM GBA -

All of the pixel art is really really good, and just looks so much better than ReCoM. The mob fights are also so much easier and more fun. But there are a lof of bosses that feel basically unfair with the limited dodging controls. Dragon Maleficent is evil in this version, and Riku’s final boss is basically a dice roll.

ReCoded -

This one is honestly just very boring. I really hate how they made the cutscenes with static images compared to the character profiles of Days. Just really makes it feel cheaper to me, and this game made the disney world repeating get to me. Why do you repeat the worlds 3 times?

MoM -

Truly just not much a fan of rhythm games, but having old graphics KH3 Sora is cool, but also Kairi got cheated out of her own game, which I can’t forgive.

Dark Road -

I only watched the cutscenes/Let’s Play once and I don’t remember the names of most of the characters.
